25 Shows Other Than The Office to Binge Watch
Are you stuck at home and looking for some new shows to binge on your favorite streaming services? We've got you covered. But this list probably isn't what you would expect.
Yes, we all love The Office, Parks & Rec, Grey's Anatomy, and Friends, but we want to share some different ideas to jazz up your "Recently Watched" list on Netflix.
These shows are some of our favorites that AREN'T "basic" from our Simple & Sentimental staff.
Taylor's Favorite Shows To Binge
You'll notice each show on my list is a TV comedy series! I watch other genres too, but these are my go-to's. They're easy to watch, and I actually like watching some of them better the second time around because I notice new things about them. Enjoy!
-Taylor
Arrested Development
I absolutely LOVE Arrested Development and sometimes feel like it's underrated. My favorite seasons are the ones before Netflix takes over.
If you like The Office, Parks & Rec, and other similar funny shows, you'll enjoy Arrested Development. It takes a few episodes to really get into it, but once you do you won't stop laughing. You can watch all 5 seasons on Netflix.
Schitt's Creek
Schitt's Creek has recently become popular since it was added to Netflix. It's another funny show but I think it has one of the better story lines of any comedy series that have come out in the last 5 years.
It's currently on its last season that airs on Pop TV (you can watch on Hulu the next day), or you can binge the first 4 seasons on Netflix.
Community
I watched the first 4 seasons of Community on Hulu and loved it! It's another comedy series (do you see a trend here?). Its episodes can often stand on their own with their strange but hilariously overdone plots.
I honestly quit watching after season 4 because two characters left and I felt it wasn't as good once they left, but the first 4 seasons are great!
Superstore
Superstore is another funny comedy series I love, and they're still making new episodes! You can watch it all on Hulu.
Brooklyn 99
Yep, all 5 of my suggestions are comedy series. Sorry not sorry! They're so easy to watch and they make me laugh. I love Brooklyn 99. It's about a police precinct in New York City, and also has a great storyline. The show does a great job of showing the characters develop over time too. It's a win win.
You can watch it all on Hulu!
Paige's Favorite Shows
I enjoy a wide variety of shows, but for the most part I end up watching either a comedy like the Office or some kind of crime or investigative show. I have always loved a good mystery and trying to solve it before the reveal at the end. So I really appreciate shows that keep me guessing and that I cannot predict.

Nina's Favorites
I typically like documentaries and shows that really make you think (don't get me wrong, I love The Office too!). It makes me feel better to binge shows that my brain is working to connect the dots.
All of these shows require you to really pay attention to the dialogue and what is going on in the background to fully grasp what is going on!
Warning: Making a Murderer and The Staircase have cliffhanger endings that may or may not make you want to throw your TV out of a window! Happy watching!!
-Nina
Making a Murderer
Making A Murderer was filmed over a 10-year period, Steven Avery, a DNA exoneree who, while in the midst of exposing corruption in local law enforcement, finds himself the prime suspect in a grisly new crime (IMBD).

The Blacklist
In The Blacklist a new FBI profiler, Elizabeth Keen, has her entire life uprooted when a mysterious criminal, Raymond Reddington, who has eluded capture for decades, turns himself in and insists on speaking only to her (IMBD).
This is definitely one of my favorite shows. It's got a lot of action and the characters are witty.
Sarah's Top Picks
I'm a sucker for British period pieces, especially PBS Masterpiece shows. I like the longer episodes with in-depth characters and storylines. Every once in a while, when I need a good laugh, I enjoy quirky comedies filled with puns, nerdy references, and light-hearted crime solving.
